About the role

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Backend Architect to define and drive the technical vision for our backend systems. You will own the architecture roadmap, ensure scalability and reliability, and mentor engineering teams in best practices. This role is ideal for a strategic thinker who thrives on solving complex distributed systems challenges.

What you will do

  • Design and evolve the overall backend architecture to support high-growth, real-time applications.
  • Lead technical decisions for microservices, data pipelines, and API design across multiple squads.
  • Establish coding standards, deployment processes, and observability frameworks across the backend stack.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering leadership to align technical strategy with business goals.
  • Mentor senior engineers and conduct architecture reviews to ensure consistency and quality.

What we are looking for

  • 7+ years of experience in backend engineering, with at least 3 years in an architectural role.
  • Deep expertise in designing and operating large-scale distributed systems (e.g., microservices, event-driven architectures).
  • Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Go, Java, Python, or similar) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Hands-on experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence technical decisions across teams.
